**JOB OPENING FOR A** **Librarian Supervisor** At the **St. George Library** ***Full Time with Benefits*** **$24.93 Hourly** Are you a collaborative leader who is passionate about libraries, literacy, and community service? Washington County is seeking a Librarian Supervisor to help lead daily operations at one of our branch libraries. In this rewarding role, you'll supervise library staff, support branch operations, assist patrons with a wide range of library services, and help create a welcoming environment where community members can learn, explore, and connect. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring employees, solving problems, staying current with library trends and technology, and making a meaningful impact in the community every day. ### Responsibilities include: - Supervise, schedule, train, and support assigned library staff - Coordinate daily workflow and help ensure efficient branch operations - Provide exceptional customer service and assist patrons with library resources, policies, and services - Help resolve patron concerns and support staff in difficult situations - Assist with opening and closing the library and help maintain building security - Monitor the facility for cleanliness, safety, and maintenance needs - Evaluate employee performance, provide coaching, and support staff development - Assist with circulation, reference, children's services, meeting room scheduling, and other branch functions as assigned - Support collection development, technology services, and special library projects - Serve as a resource for library policies, procedures, and best practices ### What We're Looking For: - A positive, service-oriented leader who enjoys helping others - Someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys mentoring staff - Excellent communication and customer service skills - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail - Ability to think critically, solve problems, and make sound decisions - Comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment - Passion for libraries, literacy, lifelong learning, and community engagement ### Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Knowledge of public library operations, reference services, circulation, and collection development - Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to coach, train, and motivate employees - Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with staff, patrons, and community partners - Ability to interpret and apply library policies and procedures while exercising independent judgment - Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities - Proficiency with Microsoft Office and library computer systems, or the ability to quickly learn new technology - Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing - Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a high level of public service ### Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree - AND three (3) years of experience in a public library setting (supervisory experience preferred) - OR an equivalent combination of education and experience ### Work Schedule & Physical Requirements: - May be required to work day and evening shifts, including rotating Saturdays - Ability to reach upper shelves, bend and stoop, lift up to 50 pounds (with or without assistance), and push loaded book carts as needed A complete job description and application can be found on our website: https://www.washco.utah.gov/forms/human-resources/jobs/ Only Applications submitted online will be accepted.
