Librarian | Middle School JobID: 351 Position Type: Middle School Teaching Date Posted: 6/25/2026 Location: Lockwood Schools K-12 Additional Information: Show/Hide TITLE: Librarian | Middle School REPORTS TO: Building Principal SUPERVISES (if applicable): N/A JOB DEFINITION OR GOAL: To administer and provide library media service in a way that incorporates curriculum, technology and staffing, so that patrons effectively retrieve, evaluate and utilize information as well as develop a love of reading and life-long learning. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Responsible for building a school library collection to support the educational goals of the district. 2. Responsible for overseeing the acquisition, organization, maintenance, utilization and retention of materials and equipment in the library. 3. Provides faculty with bibliographies of library resources that support the subject areas being taught. 4. Participates in grant proposals. 5. Maintains a working knowledge of, builds and arranges specialized information resources. 6. Complies with board policies, rules, regulations, and directives. 7. Provides for computerization of the acquisition and cataloging function. 8. Responsible for teaching students and staff how to access and use resource information in the library. 9. Instructs students in developing research skills and related use of technology. 10. Organizes, trains and directs library staff. 11. Supervises students and library staff. 12. Administers discipline in accordance with board policies and administrative regulations. Only minimum duties are listed. DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Be appropriately licensed and endorsed in accordance with state statutes and Board of Public Education rules, or be considered appropriately assigned if enrolled in an internship. 2. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, parents and staff. 3. Ability to handle stressful situations. 4. Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters. 5. Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities. Employee may be required to supervise students as assigned in and out of doors.
