**Applications accepted from: All Persons Interested** **Division:** Statistics and Business Intelligence **Reporting Location:** Central Library **Workdays & Hours:** Monday - Sunday, 8:00am - 8:00pm (varies) \*Subject to change **DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** Houston Public Library (HPL) is seeking an energetic, flexible, team-oriented Librarian II with a passion for data analysis to be part of Statistics and Business Intelligence team to perform professional library work with analysis of library data from a variety of sources to identify trends and enhance library operations. The preferred candidate will have interest in gathering and interpreting data from a variety of sources and the ability to communicate statistical trends and analysis effectively. **The Librarian II (Librarian II) duties will include:** The Librarian II (Data Librarian), will: - Plans and implements data collection processes related to the library’s collection, services, programs, facilities, and operations. - Using professional library experience to interpret library data using data visualization, data analysis, and statistical software including Excel, Power BI, and other business intelligence tools to interpret data and identify community needs and trends. - Create reports, infographics, and guides based on trends. - Compile data for state and other annual reports and produce monthly dashboards and regular reports as needed. - Assess community needs and evaluate library programs and services to improve community relations. - May supervise team members on the data team. - Other duties as assigned will be performed. Must be able to move freely throughout the library to file/retrieve library materials. Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing. **EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS** Requires a Master of Library Science degree from a school accredited by American Library Association (ALA) and one (1) year of library experience. **OR** Requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 18 hours toward a Master of Library Science degree from a school accredited by ALA and two (2) years of library experience.
