Follow up with applicant regarding status. - Secure new member’s signature(s) on appropriate paperwork prior to move-in. - Completes all work according to established CSI Support & Development procedures. - Helping prospective resident members with the application process by explaining what they need to sign in the application form; this also involves answering whatever questions they may have regarding the forms they need to fill out. (Doing this helps make sure that all forms have been properly filled out) - Performing credit and criminal background checks on prospective tenants. This task also involves informing a potential resident member that their application has been denied. - Represent the company in a professional manner at all times. - Assist management team with other various tasks as required. **Competencies** - **Discretion:** The Leasing department often deals with confidential information. A successful Leasing Specialist must comply with confidentiality demands. Communication skills: Leasing Specialist must be good listeners and be able to communicate the needs and expectations of both the company, its employees, and members. - **Interpersonal skills:** Someone in this position has constant interaction with company employees and members and must be able to maintain a positive demeanor throughout even the most difficult situations. - **Computer skills:** Leasing Specialist must be able to effectively work with company’s software systems. **Other duties** Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice. ## Requirements **Work environment** Leasing Specialists generally work in an office environment. **Physical demands** This position requires sitting at a desk for extended periods of time and significant amount of time on the phone. - Must be able to push/pull/lift up to 30 pounds. **Travel required** May need to travel to co-ops on occasion. **Required education and experience** - High School diploma or suitable alternative. - No previous experience required - Reliable transportation to and from work site. - Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written. - Excellent problem-solving skills. - Strong people skills. **Work authorization/security clearance requirements** Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regulation requires all employees—citizens, residents, and nonresidents—to complete Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification.
