Landscaper

Summary of requirements: A Landscaper at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is responsible for maintenance, repair and cleanup of developed management areas associated with Shaker Village. This position requires considerable working knowledge of power equipment and hand tools in a variety of working environments. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week. Specific Duties: 1. Cleans and keeps in good working order, all equipment used in grounds maintenance such as mowers, tractors & associated implements, trailers, salt spreaders and a variety of hand/power tools. 2. Maintains lawns, sidewalks and parking lots using hand tools or motorized vehicles. 3. Is involved with removal of snow/ice from guest areas as well as the strategic placement of snow melt/salt during freezing temperatures. 4. Drives vehicles such as a car, truck, van or other vehicles to pick up supplies and materials from other localities. 5. Regularly mows lawns, weeds, removes debris from property ground and overall, ensures the developed areas are well-maintained and meet the aesthetic standard of Shaker Village. 6. Is responsible for storm damage clean up and mitigation, including gravel paths and parking lots. 1. Is responsible for fence maintenance and repair. 11. Will be expected to perform other duties as directed by management. Standards of Performance: 1. Ability to understand and take direction. 2. Maintain a cooperative relationship with co-workers and grounds helpers. 3. Accurate and timely completions of projects. 4. Self-motivated, taking initiative and comfortable working with a deadline. 5. Comfortable working with a team or working alone. 6. Must be able to safely use hand tools and power equipment. Physical Requirements: 1. Manual dexterity in a variety of outdoor and indoor environments. 2. Perform physical activities such as bending, stooping, climbing and walking. 3. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 4. Regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs and occasionally lift up to 100lbs Working Environment and Conditions: 1. Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. 2. Elevated noise levels when operating equipment. 3. Observe precautions and wear suitable personal protective equipment. Qualifications: 1. High school diploma preferred. 2. Landscaping experience working using zero turn mowers and small power equipment. 3. Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. Position requires use of a company vehicle while conducting Shaker Village business. Equipment and Tools: 1. Zero turn mowers, tractor, chainsaw and other small power equipment. 2. Lawn mower, weed trimmer, leaf blower and hedge trimmer. 3. Hand tools
