## Overview The Laboratory Assistant works as a phlebotomist and a specimen processor. This position handles samples coming into the laboratory and also samples that need to be sent out to a reference lab. **Responsibilities:** - Assist in collecting samples, checking in patients, and other phlebotomy area duties. This duty is performed as daily. - Take telephone messages and responds appropriately. Deliver, telephone, or fax reports. This duty is performed daily. - Process and prepare in-coming samples, shipping of samples, add-ons, and storage. This duty is performed daily. - Package samples for pick by our reference laboratory. - Scan and maintain files of appropriate laboratory documents. This duty is performed daily. - Be proficient in working with appropriate computer applications.
