**Office of Juvenile Justice** **Swanson Center for Youth-Monroe** **4701 S Grand St., Monroe, LA 71202** https://ojj.la.gov/location/swanson-center-for-youth-monroe The Office of Juvenile Justice is seeking a dependable, mission-driven Juvenile Justice Specialist (WAE) to provide security, structure, and support within a secure-care environment for adjudicated youth. This role is ideal for individuals who communicate clearly, remain calm under pressure, and are committed to helping youth develop positive behaviors and life skills. As a Juvenile Justice Specialist, you’ll supervise youth, support therapeutic programming, and help maintain a safe, orderly environment. You’ll conduct security checks, monitor youth movement, enforce contraband-control policies, and respond to emergencies with professionalism and confidence. You’ll also participate in treatment team meetings, assist clinical staff, complete required documentation, and help maintain a clean, sanitary unit. Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR One year of experience in any field. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. Participates in treatment programming — attends treatment team meetings, provides behavioral observations, and assists clinical staff with group and therapeutic activities. Maintains security and safety — conducts building and perimeter checks, monitors youth movement, enforces contraband-control policies, and follows emergency procedures. Responds to crises — intervenes in crisis situations while maintaining calm, control, and adherence to facility policies. Completes documentation — prepares required reports, maintains youth records, and submits documentation per agency and facility regulations. Supports unit sanitation — assists in cleaning physical surroundings, furnishings, and equipment to maintain a safe, sanitary environment for youth.
