This position is responsible for providing clerical support for assigned court operations. - Assists with initial court proceedings related to Pretrial Services and the appointment of attorneys. - Prepares documents for court proceedings. - Coordinates and completes defendant interviews. - Gathers the defendant's financial information. - Assists the presiding judge in the appointment of attorneys. - Assists attorneys with questions regarding defendant information. - Scans magistrate packets and bail bond documents. - Organizes and inputs data into a computerized database. - Prepares and indexes magistrate packets; forwards packets to appropriate personnel. - Contacts and advises attorneys on detention hearings. - Perform any other duties as assigned. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** - Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures. - Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. - Knowledge of court, county, and departmental policies and procedures. - Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs. - Skill in prioritizing and organizing work. - Skill in the use of standard office equipment. - Skill in oral and written communication. - Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language. - Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution. - Must have at least one ( 1 ) year of related experience. - A minimum of 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university is preferred. **Complexity/Scope of Work** - The work consists of related clerical duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position. - The purpose of this position is to provide clerical support for assigned court operations. Successful performance contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of those operations. **Physical Demands/Work Environment** Occasionally - Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc. - Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. - Moving to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. - Working in low temperatures. - Working in high temperatures. - Working in hazardous conditions. - Working in small and/or enclosed spaces. - Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing. - Light work that includes carrying objects up to 20 pounds. Constantly - Communicating with others to exchange information. - Repeating motions that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers. - Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned. **Other Requirements/Information** - Must possess a valid and current Texas Driver's License or a Texas Identification card. - The Webb County Drug and Alcohol Policy applies to this position. Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, and a criminal background check are required. - This position ***is covered*** by Civil Service; therefore, is subject to the Civil Service Rules and Regulations in addition to all other Webb County policies. Valid Texas Driver's License or Texas Identification Card\* \*If the applicant holds an out-of-state Driver's License or Identification card, a State of Texas Driver's License or Texas Identification Card must be obtained prior to employment.
