IT Operations Engineer

The Basics The Op erat ions Engineer is responsible for provisioning, i nsta llat ion/configu ration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure with a particular focus on support for R&D people, processes and technology . This role participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation across Tanium’s R&D and Engineering infrastructure while ensure hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures a re operational, secure, and well maintained. Minimum Job Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience 2-3 years relevant work experience Experience with Meraki network hardware and web interface Direct experience working with AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Experience managing common services, such as DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory Familiar with monitoring and analytics tools, such as Nagios, Splunk, CheckMK, and/or DataDog Basic understanding of common network technologies and protocols Problem solving skills required to analyze complex situations and use various commercial / open-source tools to quickly resolve technical challenges Authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred Job Qualifications 3-5 years relevant work experience Highly-competitive candidates will have knowledge of and hands-on experience with the following technologies: Tanium Ansible Python, Windows & Linux shell scripting Github Enterprise, Artifactory, Jenkins, Cloudflare Experience writing scripts in common scripting languages (e.g. Python and Bash and PowerShell) Essential Job Functions Travel on short notice for network troubleshooting as needed Manage the day to day operations of Tanium’s infrastructure Participate in the planning of both short and long-term goals and direction for IT Develop tools for automation of tasks and integration of other central IT services Follows the change management process Document system configuration, installations, and maintenance processes Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering teams to resolve operational challenges and streamline workflows Core Competencies Demonstrates initiative and motivation Excellent oral and written communication skills Team player Person of high ethics and integrity Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment Security & Privacy Roles & Responsibilities All roles at Tanium have access to Tanium Confidential Information, therefore, Tanium assigns a universal Position Risk Designation to all roles to hold everyone to the highest possible standard.
