Skills, Knowledge, Abilities - Experience working with students with profound behavioral needs/emotional disturbance. - Ability to collaborate with regular education staff. - Vast understanding of teaching/intervention strategies related preferably to behavior/engagement. - Ability to collaborate with parents in order to provide consistent support for students. - Manage/share data to impact student success across all settings (academic/behavioral). - Background in creating behavioral plans based on targeted individualized student need. - Knowledge of PBIS preferred. - Familiarity with Trauma Informed Care, Restorative Justice and Responsive Classroom preferred. - Coordinate resources such as support staff and therapies. - Interest in obtaining professional development aligned to building/District goals. Essential Functions • Assist in coordinating the special education program for children with disabilities in the school district • Assist in implementation of federal law, Ohio and District rules for educating children with disabilities • Coordinate related services for children • Follow individual student IEP's • Develop IEP's for children; assist in scheduling IEP conferences • Provide classroom teachers with resource information • Assist coordination of activities between the school district and outside agencies • Work with regular classroom teachers in inclusion of students • Serve as a member of IAT and IEP teams • Attend IEP conferences • Consult with regular education teacher concerning modifications, adaptations and alternate assignments and assessments in regular education classroom for special education students • Assist with record keeping tasks and individual records of all children recommended to receive special education services or those enrolled in special education • Assist in conducting programs for the identification of exceptional children • Administer tests and evaluate scores to monitor progress of students • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student IEP's, testing information, student and staff information • Ensure that services are provided so that adequate progress of the IEP goals/objectives for students can be made • Provide direct instruction in a resource/inclusion or tutorial setting • Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear, complete and accurate explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the level of learners • Implement strategies to accomplish individualized program goals • Consult with regular classroom teacher concerning placement of potential students • Communicate with parents on a regular basis • Prepare IEP progress reports • Responsible for administering and providing accommodations for district/state testing Additional Duties - Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
