The Texas State Aquarium provides high quality, entertaining programming through education, conservation, and wildlife rehabilitation. We strive to provide our guests with an exciting, educational, and memorable experience. The Wildlife Care Intern is an unpaid position that will work under the direction of the Wildlife Care Coordinators. This intern will get a well rounded experience by spending time learning about the care for sick, injured and/or orphaned wildlife and the Caribbean Jungle avian and reptile collection at the Texas State Aquarium. This internship will have a strong focus on understanding wildlife husbandry, as well as an introduction to wildlife medicine. **Responsibilities could include but are not limed to:** - Diet Preparation - Feeding - Medical Care - Enclosure Maintenance - Participation in rescues and releases **Requirements** Degree Type Preferred: Marine Biology, Biology, Marine Science, Ecology, or a strong interest in veterinary medicine., or similar degree Hours per week: 20-30/week Duration: 10-12 weeks Requirements: Individuals should be enrolled in a college or university at a Junior or Senior level with good academic standing and valid driver's license. Interns must be able to work outdoors and in inclement weather, as well as in confined spaces and around loud noises. Interns must be able to lift at least 40lbs, and be able to climb stairs and ladders.
