Instrument Technician - Construction Surveying

**JOB SUMMARY** The Instrument Technician must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Will work primarily in the field on control, topographic, boundary, and all other surveys as Instrument Technician of a two or three-person field crew at an assigned worksite. **INTER-RELATIONSHIPS** Employees, Managers, and Supervisors throughout the corporation, and various external customers, vendors, consultants, and governmental regulatory officials. **MAJOR TASKS** - Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Cut and remove brush and undergrowth for line-of-sight. - Performs mathematical calculations and field checking of field data. - Read and understand plans and specifications. - Know basic sources of measurement errors. - Dig ground using a pick, shovel, and other hand tools to search for and locate survey monuments. - Hold and plum rod in obtaining elevations and distances. - Drive stakes to set grades on construction projects. - Provide quality customer service. - Know, understand, and demonstrate safe working/operating methods of assigned tools and equipment. **JOB SKILL REQUIREMENTS** - Must be experienced in controlling the function of surveying instruments and calculators. **PHYSICAL DEMANDS** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
