Instructional Assistant - Special Education (2026-2027) JobID: 1191 Position Type: Support Staff/Instructional Assistant Date Posted: 7/16/2026 Location: Early Childhood Center Date Available: 07/27/2026 Closing Date: Until Filled Additional Information: Show/Hide JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Special Education Instructional Assistant Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: possess an associate's degree from an accredited college; or have earned 60 semester hours (or the equivalent) from an accredited college; or have GED or high school diploma and passing score on ParaPro test prior to employment. Must also have initiative, knowledge and understanding of children, the ability and willingness to work well with others, the ability to handle unforeseen situations in accordance with policy, and the ability to accept individual differences among children. Job Goal: Under occasional supervision, performs specialized work by assisting teachers in instructing and directing the activities of students in the assigned classroom to provide a well� organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment. Assists school administrators and staff with various administrative and clerical functions as requested. Reports To: Administration and assigned classroom teacher Performance Responsibilities: (includes but is not limited to) Assist students with assignments as instructed by the teacher Work in small groups on classroom activities under the supervision of the teacher. Perform tasks and errands for students as necessary; providing basic locomotion, first aid, feeding, hygiene, toileting, changing clothing, etc. Participate in staff development training workshops to learn and update skills related to the position. Perform other classroom duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor. Physical Requirements: Requires light work that involves walking, bending, or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations. Must have ability to physically restrain a student if called upon to do so after proper training. May also be required to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion. Terms of Employment: 185 days on Classified Salary Schedule Grade 7 or 8 based on credentials Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provision of the Board's Policy.
