**Instructional Assistant - Child Care** This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with young children, helping with hands-on activities, and keeping students safe, engaged, and supported throughout the day. ## What's In It For You | **Salary** | Competitive hourly pay with annual step increases | | --- | --- | | **Schedule** | Part-time; typically under 20 hours per week | | **Work Year** | School year calendar; summers off | | **Location** | School sites throughout Bellflower Unified School District | | **Benefits** | Paid sick leave, holidays, and personal days | | **Experience** | No paid experience required and no teaching credential required | ## What You'll Actually Be Doing - **Help children learn and play:** Support children with homework, crafts, games, reading, indoor activities, and outdoor play. - **Assist the teacher:** Help with daily routines, prepare materials, follow teacher direction, and keep children engaged. - **Keep things organized:** Maintain attendance records, organize supplies, replenish classroom and bathroom materials, and help keep the room ready for the day. - **Support meals and routines:** Prepare and serve snacks and meals, set tables, help with handwashing, bathroom needs, and naptime. - **Keep children safe:** Supervise play activities, monitor students indoors and outdoors, follow health and safety procedures, and provide basic first aid as needed. - **Maintain a clean space:** Help clean tables, dishes, mats, sinks, floors, and work areas to keep the classroom safe, sanitary, and welcoming. **We're looking for people who have:** - High school diploma or equivalent - Twelve (12) Early Childhood Education units or equivalent - A great attitude and love working with kids - Reliable and professional work habits **No teaching experience required.** We will train you on what you need to know. ## Career Growth This position is a fantastic stepping stone if you are considering: - Teaching credential programs - Special education careers - Child development - Educational leadership - School counseling ## Work Environment - Multiple school locations across the District - Part-time positions, typically under 20 hours per week - School year calendar with summers off - Clean, safe classroom, campus, and activity settings ## Physical Demands **All Instructional Assistant assignments:** - Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. - Bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching to assist students. - Using hands and fingers to operate classroom and office equipment - Seeing to read materials and monitor student activities. - Hearing and speaking to exchange information - Lifting light objects. ## Ready to Apply?
