POSITION SUMMARY The Industrial Control Systems Automation Analyst II performs advanced technical work on PLCs, OITs, and control panels, including programming and logic modifications. Independently troubleshoots complex automation issues, implements changes, and ensures compliance with established standards. Collaborates with engineering teams and vendors to support upgrades and maintain system reliability. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Perform programming and logic modifications for PLCs and OITs. 2. Independently troubleshoot and resolve complex automation issues. 3. Ensure compliance with TRA standards and cybersecurity requirements. 4. Collaborate with engineering teams, operations and vendors for system upgrades and integration. 5. Lead and manage in-house upgrades and new installations. 6. Essential personnel are required to report to work when scheduled during departmental and/or emergency situations, including, but not limited to, extended periods of inclement weather when travel may be difficult. This position is essential because in the absence of sufficient personnel, the plant cannot operate safely. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES N/A FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY N/A QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or related field (or equivalent experience). EXPERIENCE • 3+ years of experience with PLC programming and industrial automation systems. • Water/Wastewater experience preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS • Valid driver’s license. • ISA CCST (Certified Control Systems Technician) Analyst Level II required or equivalent. • Additional certifications such as GICSP or vendor specific PLC certifications (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Schneider) are preferred. KNOWLEDGE • Proficiency in Allen-Bradley and/or Schneider PLC platforms. • Familiarity with SCADA systems and industrial networking. SKILLS AND ABILITIES • Basic network troubleshooting skills. • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. • Ability to work independently and manage projects effectively. GUIDANCE RECEIVED Follows periodic direct instructions and guidelines, uses policies and procedures that require some interpretation. Problems that cannot be addressed through an existing guideline, policy or procedure are referred to supervisor or more senior position. Incumbent must exercise judgment about whether to escalate issues. PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. • Ability to stand, walk, and work in industrial environments for extended periods. • May require bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces. • Ability to use standard tools and equipment safely. WORKING CONDITIONS • Office and Industrial environments, which may include exposure to noise and temperature variations. • Occasional travel to field sites within the State of Texas (typically less than 10%). • Participation in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for ICS systems. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED • Industrial automation hardware and software, including PLCs, OIT, and SCADA systems. • Standard hand tools and electrical testing equipment. • Laptop/desktop computers for programming and diagnostics. • Network diagnostic tools.
