HVAC Technician

Amentum is seeking a facilities HVAC technician to join our team in Melville, NY. This position is Monday - Friday 7-330. Hours may vary based on business demands. This position is responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive maintenance on the facility HVAC and mechanical equipment in an industrial, large commercial, or logistics distribution environment including clean rooms. Must have the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot all HVAC equipment and systems. Must demonstrate good written and verbal communication. The position must have the ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures. General Maintenance of equipment will also be required. **Responsibilities:** Providing a level of expertise in performing preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance to a wide variety of industrial or commercial facility HVAC equipment. - Ensure optimal and continuous operation of mechanical systems by performing routine inspections and maintenance, monitoring metering equipment and adjusting levels as necessary. - Identifying and correcting any safety-related issues and performing independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures. - Operating, maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, chillers, rooftop AHU’s, split systems, compressors, refrigeration, and other mechanical equipment as needed. - Utilizing the building automation system to track building conditions and the operation of facilities equipment. - Provide a level of expertise in the efficient operation of all HVAC systems. - Recharging refrigerant levels, checking for leaks, and ensuring the refrigerant cycle is functioning correctly in air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. - Utilizing strong mechanical and electrical skills to complete assignments. - Performing preventive and predictive maintenance on HVAC control and operating systems as scheduled from a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). - Responding and providing service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations, and industry standards. - Performing the functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout, and wearing PPE as required. - Operating various measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions. - Complying with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). - Maintaining a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment. - Performing other duties as assigned by Management or Lead. - Work in a team environment with a one team mentality; be friendly, respectful, empathetic, and professional to teammates and clients. - Value and respect employee authenticity and demonstrate cultural awareness to create a memorable experience and a respectful workplace. - Balance workload and multiple tasks while focusing on attention to detail and prioritizing assignments. - Take initiative to resolve issues that arise and solve problems independently; shift priorities as needed or requested by management and remain flexible - Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. - Ability to communicate clearly via phone. - Ability to work closely with customers during site emergencies. - Accurately document electronic and paper cataloging systems to provide information to customer or regulatory personnel. - Strive for quick complaint resolution; to resolve problems on the first call and avoid escalation of issues through operational knowledge. - Other duties as ass…
