HVAC REFRIGERATION MASTER MECHANIC

The HVAC/Refrigeration Master Mechanic performs major repairs on all types of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and refrigeration equipment at the Southern University Baton Rouge Campus. Three years of experience or training in the installation and/or maintenance of heating, ventilating, or air conditioning systems.The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found [here](https://apps01.civilservice.louisiana.gov/onestopjobinfo/DisplayJobSpec.aspx?JobCode=136910). **Job Duties:** - Operates and performs maintenance and preventive maintenance on heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. - Repairs central a/c units, window a/c units, fans, cooling towers, refrigerators, air handlers, freezers, heaters and boilers. - Overhauls and repairs pump compressors. - Installs compressors, condensers, evaporators, motors, pumps, valves, controls other units that comprise A/C and Refrigerating systems. - Cleans and changes air filters. - Troubleshoots and install motor starters on related equipment. - Charges systems with oil and refrigerants. - Requisitions parts and materials. - Adjust and calibrates controls. - Performs other related work as directed or required. **Position-Specific Details:** Appointment Type: Probational Compensation: The beginning salary is $22.52/hourly. *The Southern University System (System) is an equal employment opportunity employer and serves as a model employer for individuals with disabilities.* *The System does not discriminate against applicants or employees on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, political affiliation, disability, age, or pregnancy, and prohibits harassment of any type.
