House of Trades (HOT) Service-Learning AmeriCorps Position Details \*Documents needed to enroll: Government Issued Photo ID, Signed Social Security Card, US Birth Certificate or another form of Proof of Citizenship. HOT Position Summary: Participate in service-learning projects focused on engaging and serving rural communities, persons with disabilities, opportunity youth, and veterans and military families. Projects will allow members to provide services while gaining skills in a variety of trade skills. Before engaging in direct service, members will receive safety training to provide these services in a safe environment. AmeriCorps Responsibilities: (in addition to host site service) - Plan and implement service-learning projects for students at host sites or in communities - Attend monthly member meetings - Complete virtual training to amplify service abilities - Participate in National Service Days and planned events - Create a service portfolio and track and report service outcomes - Serve as an ambassador in your neighborhood and community - Participate in a virtual pre-service training prior to serving at assigned host site Service Schedule: Monday-Friday Estimated Schedule 8-4 pm /Clarion-Venango County Projects Start Dates: September 1 and 16, 2026 Gross Monthly Living Allowance: 1700 Hour Term - $2,600.00 gross monthly (48 weeks) 1300 Hour Term - $2,600.00 gross monthly (37 weeks) 900 Hour Term - $1,860.00 gross monthly (34 weeks) Definition of Living Allowance: money distributed to individuals to meet basic living needs. Living allowance is not considered money earned as during employment. Members are not classified as employees. Therefore members are not subject to employee benefits or eligible for unemployment. A living allowance may not affect other benefits such as social security, retirement, or other assistance benefits. Education Award: 1700 Hour Term - $7,395.00 1300 Hour Term - $5,176.50 900 Hour Term - $3,697.50 The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award is offered to individuals who complete a term of service and can be used to pay for a range of education/training expenses. Examples include: repaying qualified student loans, future tuition payments, skill training programs and more. You can earn up to 2 Full Time Education awards while serving up to 4 service terms. Loan Deferment & Interest Forbearance: Individuals in approved AmeriCorps positions are eligible for forbearance for most federally guaranteed student loans. In addition, interest payments that accrue during service may be eligible for repayment by AmeriCorps. Generally, the Trust pays all interest for members serving full time who complete their term of service. For example, many colleges and universities match the Education Award and offer additional AmeriCorps scholarships. AmeriCorps members serving in community based programs could participate in any of the following activities: - Learn a variety of trade skills while helping the community through service learning projects - Expand experiences through a career pathway - Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, serving as a role model to encourage character building habits and important social and life skills - Build a community-agency bridge through new and ongoing partnerships, increasing the capacity of the program to provide expanded learning opportunities - Assist with maintaining a clean and safe environment for children through facility preparation, and ongoing and after program upkeep - Collaborate with agency staff to monitor youth progress using written evaluations, observatio…
