Heavy Equipment Mechanic

LETEM Forest Products, is in search for a high energy, result oriented **Diesel Mechanic**. Our rolling stock equipment consist of semi-tractors, frontend loaders, screen-it, morbark grinder, forklifts, and many different types of trailers. The main responsibility of our Diesel Mechanic to maintain a strict PM schedule, trouble shoot & diagnose issues, and also perform major engine repairs. **Essential Functions:** - Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts. - Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades, controlling corrosion, completing winterization procedures. - Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units. - Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems. - Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards. - Contain costs by properly following warranty procedures. - Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications. - Enhance maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. **Job Requirements** - 10+ years of experience in the following areas: 1. Experience in heavy equipment diesel engines 2. Experience in heavy equipment hydraulic systems (pumps, Rams, valve banks, rebuilding and repairing) 3. Experience in heavy equipment electrical systems 4. Experience in road tractors (Diesel engines, air brake systems, clutch and drive train, electrical) 5. Welding and fabricating experience (Mig and stick) - High School Diploma/GED and Trade or Vocational Training preferred - Certifications in related fields preferred (John Deere, Cummins, CAT) - Must have a valid driver’s license - Good written and verbal skills - Must have a good set of basic working hand tools - Must be willing to work flexible shifts and over time as needed - Must be able to meet physical requirements of position (lifting up to 100lbs, bending, climbing, standing for duration of shift, etc.)
