The high acuity 10-bed Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) at Akron General provides medical attention following a stroke, neurological trauma or other neurological-related injury. As a Health Unit Clerk in the NSICU, you will provide a high level of customer service to patients, families, visitors and employees to promote and support the highest level of patient experience **A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. including every other weekend rotation and 3 holidays per year requirements.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: - Perform administrative and clerical duties. - Conduct an in-person greeting and welcome newly admitted and transferred patients to the unit. - Communicate with and facilitate communication between patients, families, other departments and healthcare team members regarding patient care. - Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. - Provide concierge service to assist patients and families with wayfinding and directing them to available resources. - Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care. - Troubleshoot equipment. - Respond to patient call lights. - Keep nursing stations clean and organized. - Complete mandatory education and training. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: - High School Diploma or GED - One year of experience in a customer service-related role - Prior job experience with typing or computer training or equivalent coursework Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: - Microsoft Office experience **Physical Requirements:** - Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. - Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time. - Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision. - Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids. **Personal Protective Equipment:** - Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
