Head Boys Basketball Coach ~ Junior High JobID: 1332 Position Type: Athletics/Activities/Coaching Date Posted: 7/14/2026 Location: Florence Jr/Sr High School Additional Information: Show/Hide FREMONT RE-2 SCHOOL DISTRICT JUNIOR HIGH HEAD BOYS BASKETBALL COACH Position Type: Seasonal/Extra-Duty Athletic Assignment Location: Florence Jr./Sr. High School Reports To: Athletic Director and Building Principal Supervises: Assistant coaches, volunteer coaches, student managers, and other assigned program personnel Compensation: Stipend in accordance with the Board-approved extracurricular salary schedule Evaluation: Athletic Director, in consultation with the Building Principal POSITION SUMMARY The Junior High Head Boys Basketball Coach provides leadership, instruction, supervision, and organization for the junior high boys basketball program. The coach is responsible for developing student-athletes' basketball skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, character, academic responsibility, and personal growth while maintaining a safe, positive, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate athletic environment. The coach shall conduct the program in accordance with Fremont RE-2 School District policies and procedures, school athletic expectations, applicable league and state association requirements, and all applicable federal and state laws. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Program Leadership and Instruction Plan, organize, and supervise all practices, competitions, team activities, and program-related events. Teach the fundamental skills, strategies, techniques, rules, and conditioning appropriate for junior high basketball and the developmental needs of student-athletes. Develop practice plans that promote skill development, teamwork, physical fitness, sportsmanship, safety, and appropriate competitive opportunities. Establish clear program expectations, team rules, attendance requirements, and standards of conduct consistent with District and school policies. Conduct fair and equitable tryouts and team-selection processes in accordance with District procedures. Determine player assignments and playing time using professional judgment and consideration of student safety, readiness, effort, conduct, team needs, and program expectations. Promote consistency and continuity within the District's basketball program by collaborating with the Athletic Director, high school coaching staff, assistant coaches, and other appropriate personnel. Participate in professional development, clinics, meetings, and training necessary to remain current regarding basketball instruction, adolescent development, student safety, and coaching practices. Student-Athlete Development and Supervision Serve as a positive role model and demonstrate integrity, professionalism, respect, fairness, responsibility, and appropriate sportsmanship. Promote the academic success, attendance, conduct, physical well-being, and social-emotional development of student-athletes. Monitor student eligibility in cooperation with the Athletic Director and designated school personnel. Maintain active and appropriate supervision of student-athletes during practices, competitions, team meetings, locker-room use, transportation, and other team activities. Ensure student-athletes remain only in authorized areas and are released to an authorized parent, guardian, transportation provider, or other approved individual following activities. Prohibit and appropriately address hazing, harassment, bullying, discrimination, retaliation, abuse, inappropriate relationships, and other prohibited conduct. Apply team and school discipline consistently and fairly while providing students with appropriate due process and involving the Athletic Director or building administration when necessary. Communicate promptly and professionally with parents or guardians regarding significant concerns involving eligibility, conduct, attendance, safety, injury, or removal from the team.
