Hardware Lead, Football - Italy Job Title: Hardware Lead Company: Hawk-Eye Innovations Ltd Location: Predominantly in the Serie A Remote Center in Lissone (MB) and in Milan Warehouse. Travel as and when required for Italian Operations, meetings, or other requirements. Reporting to: Tech Manager Contract: Permanent, Full-Time Salary: €33k to €42k, depending on experience Role Overview: The Hardware Lead in Italy serves as the driving force behind the technical infrastructure essential to Serie A, Serie B and Serie C tournaments and various international events. This role combines technical expertise with strategic oversight, requiring an individual who can manage and innovate hardware systems, from VAR setups and GL Cameras to the wider Tracking infrastructure, while ensuring they meet the highest operational standards. As part of the role, the Hardware Lead will also gain direct operational experience by working as a Tracking Operator or Technical Guarantee during selected matches. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the Hardware Lead is responsible for configuring, maintaining and optimising cutting-edge equipment, ensuring seamless operations in high-pressure environments. Additionally, they oversee procurement, manage hardware requests and provide in-country support at key events, playing a crucial role in delivering reliable and effective technology solutions. This individual sets new benchmarks in performance and reliability, driving the continuous improvement of hardware processes. Key Responsibilities 1. Review and document operational issues across all projects in Italy together with the Project Leads after every game week; 2. Coordinate all equipment related actions and information across multiple projects in Italy; 3. Support planning and execution of maintenances, upgrades and standardisation in the equipment; 4. Work alongside the rest of the tech team to implement new technical solutions and procedures for the delivery; 5. Assist preparing procurement sheets of new equipment together with the UK team for future purchases for the local operation; 6. Ensure the Project Leads and the Logistics Lead have all the necessary information to make the best decisions moving and allocating equipment around the country; 7. Create, update and share relevant hardware documentation to be used by the team; 8. Maintain an updated asset list with all the items currently being used in Italy, as well as an efficient inventory for the kits; 9. Centralise paperwork and information regarding the import procedures, dates and costs for all the kits in the country; 10. Other relevant hardware and technical duties as required from the Technical Manager; 11. Become an integral part of the operational team, completing the required training to operate the Tracking system and supporting match delivery from the Remote Centre or onsite when required. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise The ideal candidate will have the following: - A keen interest in technology, hardware and broadcast industries - Experience in hardware, networking, and understanding of Sport operational delivery - Understanding of IP fundamentals and our common topologies, including VLAN, VPN etc (further top-up training will be provided) - Proactive attitude and ability to work on your own initiative - Demonstrable experience in a time-pressured and challenging environment - Ability to communicate well to internal and when required, external stakeholders - Sets high standards, with clear expectations along the way. - Comfortable challenging current processes or conventions to benefit the business - Delivery focused and solution oriented mindset, with ability to find workable and pragmatic solutions to challenges.
