Performs clerical and administrative work of a confidential and responsible nature in the Program Planning Office. This position requires the ability to organize and maintain the clerical and administrative duties of the Town’s grants program. Assists in the research of grant availability, preparation of grant applications, and grant program administration; does related work as required.Plans and organizes work according to established or standard office procedures; Assists in monitoring and administering grant funded programs; Assists in researching federal, state, and other grant sources and assists in preparing applications to obtain funding; Observes strict confidentiality in establishing and maintaining files and records; Types statistical and narrative reports of some complexity; Performs special assignments, studies and routine administrative functions related to Town grant programs; Assists in the preparation of department budget by compiling information needed for budget proposals; Files progress and financial reports to granting agency; Provides clerical support to department staff as required; Maintains purchasing, personnel or other administrative grant records and reports; Responsible for gathering information and preparing weekly meeting schedules; Assists in processing department and grants payroll, including health insurance billing; Provides general information to public on department or Town services managed by the Program Planning Department; Performs related work as required. **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:** Knowledge of municipal grant programs and funding sources; Ability to accurately process large amounts of paperwork; Ability to maintain complex files and record systems; Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; Ability to compose correspondence and reports; Ability to collect and organize data; Knowledge of basic bookkeeping; Ability to communicate effectively with staff members, Town officials and the general public; Ability to operate office equipment. High school graduate or GED with five (5) years experience in responsible office work.
