THE ROLE Hourly Range: $45 - $80 The Government Relations Professional will be responsible for supporting Localcoin’s engagement with federal and provincial and international government stakeholders, monitoring relevant policy and regulatory developments, and helping position the company as a trusted participant in the digital asset and fintech ecosystem. This role is ideal for someone with strong federal government relations experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory and political environments. Reporting directly to the Chief Compliance Officer, this part-time position is based in Canada and requires approximately 20 hours per week. The role is likely to include occasional travel within Canada and internationally, including Australia, Europe and expansion countries, to support Localcoin's government relations, regulatory engagement, and business priorities. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING Build and maintain relationships with government officials, regulators, industry associations, and other key stakeholders. Monitor legislative, regulatory, and policy changes affecting cryptocurrency, fintech, payments, AML, privacy, and financial services, and share updates with internal teams. Work closely with Legal, Compliance, Product, and Operations to support regulatory initiatives and ensure business readiness. Coordinate with external legal counsel and government relations firms across Localcoin's operating regions on government relations activities and regulatory matters. Review draft legislation and provide feedback to internal teams on potential business impacts. Prepare briefing notes, presentations, consultation responses, correspondence, and other government relations materials. Represent Localcoin in meetings with government officials, regulators, industry groups, and external partners. Coordinate with government agencies on licensing, compliance, consultations, and regulatory inquiries. Identify opportunities for Localcoin to participate in government consultations, industry forums, and advocacy initiatives. Support regulatory or government-related issues as they arise, including stepping in during urgent or crisis situations. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Extensive experience in federal government relations, public affairs, or lobbying, with an established network of government and regulatory contacts across Canada. Experience working with provincial governments, particularly in Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta, is considered a strong asset. Strong understanding of Canadian government processes, legislative procedures, and stakeholder engagement strategies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare briefing notes, policy materials, and executive updates. Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to operate in a fast-moving, regulated environment.
