Job Title| Generalist Software Engineer, Founding Team Location | On-Site — San Francisco, CA Time Zone | PST Role Overview: We are seeking a Generalist Software Engineer to join the founding team of a fast-moving AI video infrastructure startup. The company's first product turns prompts and documents into whiteboard-style explainer videos in seconds, with a broader mission of making video generation fast, cheap, and programmable enough for AI to use anywhere it currently uses text. As a founding team member, you'll move fluidly across frontend, backend, and product surfaces, tackling whatever the product needs most at any given time. This role is built for someone who doesn't need clear lanes or a hand-off from someone else to make progress. You will work directly with the founder and play a direct role in shaping the team's technical culture from the start. Key Responsibilities: - Ship features across the full stack, from backend logic to user-facing UI - Build and maintain APIs for core workflows like projects, jobs, and billing - Design frontend experiences that are fast, clear, and trustworthy - Improve areas like onboarding, account management, and usage insights - Work closely with product, design, and customer feedback to guide priorities - Produce maintainable, well-documented code for a growing team Required Qualifications: - Demonstrated full-stack experience shipping modern web applications - Comfortable working with typed languages, frontend frameworks, backend APIs, databases, and cloud services - Sharp product judgment and ability to simplify complicated workflows - Ships quickly while protecting the reliability of critical systems - Owns outcomes fully, from initial problem framing to final launch - Comfortable leveraging AI tools for speed, while using personal judgment to guide direction - Must be willing to work on-site in San Francisco, CA Preferred Qualifications: - Background working on a small or founding engineering team - Comfortable operating without predefined specs or rigid processes - Experience collaborating directly with a founder or small leadership team Tools & Technology: - Modern frontend frameworks - Backend/API frameworks and databases - Cloud infrastructure and deployment tooling - AI-assisted development tools We connect top talent with vetted employers, competitive pay, and real growth opportunities.
