**POSITION SUMMARY:** Under direction performs work of considerable difficulty in coordinating and completing various administrative responsibilities within an assigned service or program area; The person in this position will provide support to the accounting functions to ensure timely processing of financial data for the City of Toledo. **ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:** - Coordinates a variety of administrative activities related to assigned service or program area, such as, accounting journal entries, financial statement preparation, bank reconciliations, grant research, employee relations, management relations, or accounts receivable. - Researches, complies and analyzes information related to assigned areas. - Works with divisions to analyze and resolve account reconciliation issues. - Submits recommendations for program improvements and enhancements. - Prepares reports, correspondences, and related materials to document work. - Assists with budget preparation and budget monitoring of assigned function area. - Assists administration with carrying out the responsibilities of the department/division. - Manages finance processes in SAP. - Obtains information on parcel numbers, property descriptions for fixed asset system. - Answers telephone calls about journal entries and/or directs such inquiries to knowledgeable persons. - Performs a wide range of computer reconciliation, cost accounting, typing, filing and clerical work in conjunction with overall Accounts Division functions. - Works with SAP consultants on restorations and enhancements. - Performs SAP configuration for finance functions. - Creates reports from SAP databases. - Prepares correspondence to customers as needed. - Identifies, researches, system defects and follows through ticket items to resolution. - Provides subject matter expertise using best practices to the entire DFI SAP system operation in order to assist with problem solving. **REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:** **Knowledge of:** - Applicable codes laws and regulations associated with governmental accounting. - Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). - Investigation and effective training techniques. - City's organizational structure and operations. - Technical subject matter utilized in the Accounts Division. - Governmental accounting principles, practices and procedures. - Computer software. - Programs and objectives of the department/division. - Rules, regulations, laws, policies and procedures governing activities of the section. - Investigative and research methods and techniques. **Skill in:** - Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat. - working on improvements and enhancements to processes. - Strong database and spreadsheet experience. - Excellent interpersonal communication skills. - Excellent writing skills. - Commitment to excellent customer service. - Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. - Aptitude for defining and solving problems, collecting data, establishing facts, drawing valid conclusions using effective judgment, and analytical skills. - Works independently, under pressure, to achieve goals and to create a supportive work environment - using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines. **Ability to:** - Operate office equipment. - Be self-motivated and innovative. - Have an eye for detail while keeping the "big picture" in perspective. - Forecast requirements and control expenditures within budgeting guidelines. - Work courteously and effectively with clients concerning controversial issues. - Deal with many variables, define and solve problems, collect, analyze and interpret data, establish facts and determine specific action, evaluate and improve process and/or program efficiency / effectiveness. - Effectively plan, organize, schedule and prioritize work assignments and tasks. - Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, governmental officials, business owners and the general public…
