General Education Resource Center Associate: BASIC FUNCTION/DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Under the direct supervision of the teacher, the successful candidate will assist in the academic program in grades 6-12 and support operations of a community-based resource center. The Resource Center Associate (RCA) is a key part of each resource center’s instructional staff. The RCA position is hourly and part-time, 25 hours per week. RCAs are role models for students and are expected to professionally represent the school at all times. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge, or abilities associated with this classification, but is intended to accurately reflect the primary job elements. - Grade student work within 72 hours of receipt and follow reference guide for grading - Provide constructive feedback and commentary on student work - Facilitate small group tutoring sessions in a core subject area to support students’ academic growth - Collaborate with teacher to support each student’s Pathways Personalized Education Plan (PPEP) - Tutor students individually across all core subject areas - Assist and monitor the completion of students’ Naviance surveys - Sign and abide by all educational testing affidavit - Communicate with students/parents about school events, academic engagement, and progress updates - Attend required professional development opportunities and staff meetings throughout the school year - Assist teachers with supervision of students and maintaining a safe and supportive school culture - Participate in the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) process to support student engagement - Support teachers with the development of a monthly resource center calendar - Help to maintain a clean and organized learning environment that is inclusive for all student - Perform other duties as assigned or changed with or without notice - Maintain consistent and regular attendance QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: - Holds a high school diploma or its equivalent - Completion of two years college coursework from an accredited college or university (Minimum of 48 semester units) - Passing score on a Workstyles/Behavior Survey and Math Assessment - Excellent organization, time management, and record keeping skills - Experience working with youth and specialized student populations preferred - Reliable transportation - TB Clearance - Obtain Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance through the DOJ and FBI KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: - Understands and embodies the school’s Vision, Mission, and Values - General understanding of instructional strategies and use of curriculum resources - General knowledge of California Common Standards in core subject areas - Ability to use software applications such as Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) - Demonstrates cultural awareness and sensitivity within the school community WORKING CONDITIONS: ENVIRONMENT: Indoor, office setting; exposure to computer screens.
