Our work is challenging but rewarding, with countless personal and professional growth opportunities. ## Job Description **This position requires you to reside in Japan during your employment with Wizcorp.** Wizcorp is looking for Game Server Programmers to work on exciting multiplayer games targeting a variety of consoles and environments. Depending on your background, skills, and experience we’ll find the most suitable role within our teams. **Is this job for me?** 👨‍🦰👩‍🦳🧑‍🦲 You have a few years of work experience implementing real-time networking in games and have seen the release of a few games. You know all the quirks of low-level networking. You live and breathe C++, but don't mind using the right language for the job either. You’re not afraid to deep-dive into any network protocol implementation to make some improvements. You've implemented your fair share of lobby and matchmaking systems. Sounds like you? Then this job is for you! **Typical day 🎮📆🕹️** You start your day by reviewing code from other engineers and ensuring they meet quality expectations. You will mainly work on network-related systems, but will often need to remain up-to-date with the features being implemented by your peers. Some days, you will be working on the game itself, ensuring a smooth multiplayer experience. On others, you will focus on peripheral systems used to support the gaming experience, like lobbies, matchmaking, and ranking systems. You may have to work on network optimization, help and support server-build deployments, and work on low-level parts of game engines affecting the quality of the multiplayer experience. **Th** **e ideal candidate will be able to** - Implement multiplayer and networked features, and make server builds of the game. - Create standalone peripheral systems (lobby, matchmaking, etc.) - Design, test, and debug own code without assistance from other engineers - Capable of analyzing network traffic as part of problem-solving and debugging - Break down large features into engineering tasks and work with other engineers to complete them - Decipher and understand complex systems - Mentor engineers in engine development best practices - Develop system with a strong focus on optimization and performance - Confidently communicate with all members of the company **Roles and Responsibilities 🛠️🧪✨** - Estimate own tasks and deliver them in a timely manner - Write clear, maintainable code that passes review by other senior engineers - Raise all blockers when they arise to the project lead - Test and document provided solutions to allow other developers to review and learn - Implement and uphold software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle - Take ownership of large areas of the code base and large complex features - Take ownership of mission-critical areas of the codebase - Coordinate with members outside of the engineering team to deliver features in a timely manner - Determine large feature feasibility and propose solutions - Provide solid programming expertise to deliver large features and architecture suggestions - Provide code review analysis that uses all relevant ex…
