Frontend Engineer Cluster OS positions focus on delivering results in their domain. This page aggregates open Frontend Engineer Cluster OS roles and what employers typically expect.
### About the Role We're a managed AI infrastructure company building a next-generation, OS-like experience that makes distributed Kubernetes-based systems approachable for both individual builders and production teams. We're looking for a **Frontend Engineer** to own and shape the interface of our cluster operating system — translating complex distributed state into clear, actionable, and beautiful user experiences. This is an early engineering team role with significant ownership. You'll define interaction patterns, build real-time visualizations, and work closely with backend and platform engineers to design elegant protocols. If you're energized by hard infrastructure problems and love crafting interfaces that make powerful systems feel effortless, this role is for you. ### What You'll Do - Own the cluster OS user interface end-to-end, including provisioning flows, natural language interfaces, and real-time proactive system insights. - Design and build visualization systems that make distributed cluster state legible at a glance. - Integrate with Kubernetes APIs, GitOps controllers, and gRPC/cRPC backends to surface the right information at the right time. - Build real-time reactive UIs using **Convex** that scale from solo users to large production teams. - Prototype new interaction patterns for infrastructure management, iterate quickly based on feedback, and validate assumptions early. - Collaborate with backend and platform teams to co-design frontend-friendly protocols and APIs. - Establish frontend architecture patterns and best practices as a foundational team member. - Write maintainable, well-structured code and champion frontend quality across the product. ### What We're Looking For **Required:** - 5+ years of production experience in a Kubernetes-based infrastructure environment. - Strong frontend fundamentals with a track record shipping user-facing infrastructure or developer tools. - End-to-end experience building **Next.js** applications using **React**, **Tailwind CSS**, and **shadcn/ui**. - Solid knowledge of Kubernetes internals — CRDs, operators, cluster architecture, etcd backup/restore, and troubleshooting. - Infrastructure as Code experience with **Terraform** and **Helm**. - Deep familiarity with **GitOps workflows** using **ArgoCD** and declarative continuous deployment patterns. - Strong proficiency in **Go** for system-level tooling, controllers, and distributed systems. - Observability experience with **Prometheus** and **Grafana** for surfacing cluster health and performance. - Comfortable working with complex state management that reflects real-world infrastructure. - Experience with APIs and backend services; willingness to contribute to backend logic when needed. - Strong communication skills, self-direction, and the ability to collaborate across product, design, and backend teams. **Nice to Have:** - Experience with **Convex** for real-time/reactive UI patterns. - Policy-as-code and security tooling for Kubernetes. - Background in systems programming or distributed systems. - Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their managed Kubernetes offerings. - Experience creating visualization systems and compute-efficient UI animations. - Familiarity with analytics tools such as PostHog. - Track record shipping developer tools or infrastructure products. ### Location This is a **full-time, on-site role** based in **San Francisco, CA**. We are not able to offer visa sponsorship at this time. ### Compensation & Benefits Compensation details were not specified for this role.
