They guide students in navigating the McGill student experience through orientation and transition programming and by providing student life opportunities across campus for students to develop their interests and skills. **Position Summary:** Under the supervision of the **Associate Director, New Student Experience**, the French Programming Program Assistant coordinates peer-led French Language learning opportunities activities during the fall and winter semesters, allowing students to practice their French while building connections on-campus and in Montreal. This will include planning and carrying out different activities including cultural visits, French-language volunteer placements, seasonal and community events and French Lunch conversation Events while promoting social connection and a sense of community. **EMPLOYMENT LEARNING OUTCOMES** As a Program Assistant, you will have the opportunity to learn and/or develop skills in the following areas: - Program Development - Student support - Adult Education/Learning Principles - Peer Programs & Peer Support - Student Affairs/Student Life **EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE** - Currently registered as a full-time student in any degree program at McGill University - Will be a returning student in Fall 2026 - Excellent French, spoken and written, with knowledge of grammatical terms and ability to provide some linguistic explanations - Group facilitation experience, preferred - Background in education, tutoring, or pedagogy, an asset. - Work Study qualified, an asset - Leadership experience, an asset - Knowledge of English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #3 (advanced) for both written and oral communication on a scale of 0-4. ## OTHER QUALIFYING SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES - Excellent communication skills, both oral and written - Demonstrated attention to detail and time management skills - Reliable, Ability to be focused on results, yet flexible to improve the student experience. - Organized and professional - Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) **SUPERVISION RECEIVED** Candidate receives regular review of work. Employee works within the framework of established procedures and receives direction as to objectives and policies.
