At PitchBook, a Morningstar company, we are always looking forward. We continue to innovate, evolve, and invest in ourselves to bring out the best in everyone. We’re deeply collaborative and thrive on the excitement, energy, and fun that reverberates throughout the company. Our extensive learning programs and mentorship opportunities help us create a culture of curiosity that pushes us to always find new solutions and better ways of doing things. The combination of a rapidly evolving industry and our high ambitions means there’s going to be some ambiguity along the way, but we excel when we challenge ourselves. We’re willing to take risks, fail fast, and do it all over again in the pursuit of excellence. If you have a good attitude and are willing to roll up your sleeves to get things done, PitchBook is the place for you. About the Role: Finance owns everything “money” at PitchBook — accounting, quote-to-cash, payroll, compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic analysis — supporting a fast-paced, growing company with actionable insights into financial health and business performance. We’re a fun, energetic team that treats employees like customers and customers as king. We aim to be trusted partners to the business by helping leaders understand performance, make better decisions, and allocate resources toward the highest-impact opportunities. The FP&A Manager builds, improves, and scales PitchBook’s planning and analysis capabilities. This role partners with leaders across the business to turn data, ambiguity, and strategic priorities into clear decisions, with a particular focus on forecasting quality, resource allocation, investment prioritization, and operational impact. The ideal candidate is a hands-on finance leader and player-coach who can strengthen core FP&A processes while also pushing the function forward through automation, AI-enabled workflows, and more scalable ways of delivering insights. This person role models PitchBook’s values, especially “Embrace and Drive Change” and “Excellence is a State of Mind,” and raises the bar for analytical rigor, communication, and business partnership across the company. Primary Job Responsibilities: Drive the annual budgeting, long-range planning, and rolling forecast cycles; manage timelines, deliverables, assumptions, and cross-functional inputs to a high bar of quality Own and improve forecast processes across bookings, revenue, operating expenses, headcount, and key business drivers Run scenario planning, sensitivity analyses, and best/base/worst case modeling to illuminate trade-offs and inform leadership decisions Support monthly close and budget vs actual reviews with crisp root-cause analysis, clear explanations of what changed, and recommended actions Strengthen driver-based forecasting approaches and automate recurring forecast refreshes where feasible Ensure planning outputs are not just accurate, but useful for decision-making Serve as a trusted partner to senior leaders by framing choices, clarifying assumptions, and connecting financial outcomes to strategy, operations, and business performance Translate incomplete, noisy, or ambiguous data into actionable insights that guide strategic and operational decisions Create clear, executive-ready narratives that explain what changed, why it changed, what it means, and what decisions leadership should consider Move beyond reporting results to proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and recommended actions Lead investment evaluations, business cases, ROI analysis, and portfolio trade-off discussions across functions Build strong relationships with business partners while maintaining the independence and judgment required to challenge assumptions and improve decisions Build and maintain frameworks to evaluate headcount, operating expense, and investment allocation across PitchBook Partner with functional leaders to connect resource requests to business outcomes, capacity needs, productivity metrics, and strat…
