Floor Finisher

DESCRIPTION General Function: Maintain high standards of cleanliness in accordance with policy and procedures set forth by West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. The major floor cleaning and refinishing functions in accordance with the standards of the Housekeeping Department and in accordance with the hospitals objectives. Will use cleaning equipment including buffers, burnishers, wet and dry vacuums, floor cleaning machines and other necessary equipment, tools, chemicals, and supplies. Extraction and bonnet cleaning of carpets. Following all safety guidelines when performing all cleaning tasks on carpets and hard surface floors. May be directed to assist with laundry duties in the event of an uncontrollable emergency, staff shortage or high census. Duties include but not limited to: Retrieving of dirty linens from areas, washing drying and folding of lines and delivering clean linens to areas. May also be directed to assist with trash route in same situations as the need for laundry assistance. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Educational Requirements: GED or High School Diploma Experience Requirements: One year experience in cleaning or janitorial work. Special Requirements: Work requires long periods of prolonged standing and walking. This includes moving equipment, furniture, carts, and supplies through the hospital. Ability to read and follow instructions verbal and written. Understand visual aids. Ability to use and maintain cleaning equipment and chemicals. III. JOB RELATED HAZARDS You will be handling and disposing of biohazard and infectious waste. You will come in contact with blood borne pathogens and exposed to hazardous materials both chemical and infectious which posse a significant present or potential threat or hazard to human health and which require special handling, processing, or disposal because they are flammable, explosive, reactive, corrosive, toxic, infectious or carcinogenic.
