Our team will train you on the knowledge, skills, and actions needed to deliver the fish in excellent condition. As a Fish Culturist 1, you will learn and perform the following duties: - **Care for Fish:** Handle fish in a way that minimizes stress, injury, and mortality; identify different species and types of fish; and load, transport, and monitor fish - **Handle Spawning:** Collect, fertilize, and care for eggs; monitor and track important data on fish development - **Support Healthy Conditions:** Set up, operate, and clean incubators, inside tanks, and outside raceways; monitor and report water quality, flow, and other information - **Use Specialized Equipment:** Safely operate a fish-stocking vehicle, feeding systems, and other specialized tools involved in fish care - **Keep Accurate Records:** Perform simple math calculations to figure out how many eggs or fish are present; report information about fish feeding, growth, health, and behavior - **Maintain Facilities:** Perform repairs and maintenance to hatchery buildings, equipment, and grounds Interested in learning more? Paid time off accrues after working 750 regular (non-overtime) hours in each calendar year. - Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
