Financial Controller, Uganda

ABOUT THE COMPANY Mogo's mission is to enable upward social mobility for people in diverse communities around the world by providing entrepreneurs who are excluded from traditional banking systems with access to credit. By combining asset financing, fintech, AI-based underwriting, and proprietary car portals, we enable these local entrepreneurs (motorcycle taxi riders, Uber/Bolt drivers, and small business owners) to find and purchase their own vehicles. ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a Financial Controller to help achieve regional financial efficiency by building and owning the Uganda country finance function, largely from scratch. The role will own monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting, stand up robust accounting procedures, manage auditors and tax authorities, and integrate the country into Eleving Group’s financial ecosystem. WHAT YOU WILL DO - Establish robust accounting and financial procedures and processes to ensure effective financial and accounting reporting. - Own monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. - Partner with local and regional stakeholders, providing financial insights and analysis to guide commercial and operational decision-making. - Manage relationships with auditors, tax authorities, and other financial partners. - Collaborate closely with the regional HQ (finance team) to ensure smooth integration into Eleving Group’s financial ecosystem. - Lead initiatives to drive accounting and financial improvements. - Monitor adherence to local regulations and international accounting standards, proactively mitigating financial risks. WHAT YOU HAVE - Higher education in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration - Previous experience in the fields of finance, business administration, project management, and similar - Understanding of IFRS accounting principles (B/S, P/L, CF) - Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial software and databases - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy - Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines - Proficiency in English - Can-do attitude and ownership mindset WHAT WE OFFER - Competitive salary and results-oriented bonus system - Personal and professional development - Monthly housing allowance - Relocation support (flights, visas, vaccination )
