Are you curious, excited by experimentation and always looking to innovate? Do you want to work in embedded payments where you can keep learning and developing whilst getting hands-on experience? Do you want to have the opportunity to play an important role in a rapidly growing and exciting Fintech business? If so, we would love to connect and collaborate! Who We Are Modulr is the payments automation platform that streamlines money movement with accuracy, control and reliability — built to scale. We process more than 200m transactions and over £180bn in payment value on an annualised basis, and we’re trusted by over 6,000 businesses from fast-growing SMEs to global enterprises. We automate how money moves into and out of a business — payroll, supplier payments, spend management and payment collection — through a single platform, connected to the accounting and payroll systems finance teams already use and underpinned by principal memberships of Visa and Mastercard and direct access to central bank infrastructure. As a regulated payments provider with over a decade of experience, we’re the platform finance teams trust to run mission-critical operations. Modulr is backed by PayPal, FIS, General Atlantic, Blenheim Chalcot, Frog Capital and Highland Europe, with over 400 employees across London, Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Mumbai and Pune. Purpose of the Role This role exists to support the detailed financial control and reporting execution across Modulr's group entities, working closely with and under the guidance of the Senior Financial Accountant. You will take hands-on responsibility for core areas of the month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations and controls execution, building towards greater ownership and independence as your experience grows. This is not a purely administrative role. You will be expected to work accurately and on time, applying a controls mindset and recognising when to escalate issues that fall outside your experience or authority. You will develop into a trusted member of the Financial Control team, supporting senior colleagues so they can focus on oversight and more complex judgement calls. You will also contribute to improving how the team works, using AI and automation tools to reduce manual effort and improve the consistency and quality of financial reporting. Key Responsibilities Group Management Accounts & Close Support the month-end close process across group entities – preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and intercompany entries for review. Assist in producing the monthly consolidated P&L, balance sheet and cash flow, including first-draft variance analysis and commentary. Support maintenance of the group management accounts model (currently Excel-based), under the guidance of the Senior Financial Accountant. Assist with elements of the group consolidation process, including intercompany eliminations and multi-currency translation, with review from senior team members. Meet close timetable deadlines for your assigned areas, managing your own workload and flagging any risks to the Senior Financial Accountant promptly. Balance Sheet Reconciliations Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for your assigned entities – fully supported, clearly evidenced and ready for review every month. Keep reconciliations up to date throughout the month, identifying and following up on reconciling items promptly. Use AI tooling, where available, to support reconciliation processes such as matching and anomaly flagging. Financial Controls & Risk Apply an audit and controls mindset to your own work – ensuring it is accurate, clearly evidenced and ready for third-party review. Follow the period close checklist for your assigned tasks, ensuring deadlines are met and any issues are raised promptly. Identify and flag period close risks to the Senior Financial Accountant, providing relevant context. Support assigned areas of Modulr's internal control framework, raising any gaps or weaknesses you notice. Help ensure sou…
