Family Nurse Practitioner

The Advanced Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing preventive and primary care as a part of a health care team in an ambulatory setting in a particular discipline. The Nurse Practitioner works in collaboration with a physician and provides care under established guidelines agreed upon by the nurse practitioner and the physician. Duties include: - Providing primary care to patients - Performing initial examinations, including physical exams and patient observations - Setting up and monitoring medical equipment - Ordering and administering diagnostic tests - Communicating test results to patients and their families - Recording patient medical histories - Operating and maintaining medical equipment **Education:** Registered nurse and successful completion of a certified post-graduate program for nurse practitioners. **Licensure:** Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas. BSN or advanced degree, certification and/or license in specialty. Maintains current DEA license. Current in Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (BLS). **Experience:** Prefer experience but will consider new graduate. **Expertise:** Primary health care **Language:** English; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred **Travel:** Occasionally; valid Texas driver’s license and current auto insurance required; must have reliable and safe transportation. **Hours of Work:** 8am-5pm M-F with some weekend/evening work.
