Essential Functions The job description is illustrative and not a complete itemization of all duties and responsibilities of the position. Perform all general maintenance and repair tasks on building systems, equipment, furniture, instructional equipment, grounds, etc. as assigned by the Facilities Manager or designee. Perform preventative maintenance activities. Perform regular inspections of equipment and systems and report any abnormalities and hazards immediately. Maintain an adequate inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment usually used in repairs, and request needed supplies through the established purchasing procedures of the district. Daily operation of the work order system, and to schedule, complete, and follow up work with customers, engaging customers as necessary for clarifications and to ensure satisfaction. Perform snow and ice removal tasks, including operation of a plow/sander equipped with F-350 or equivalent, loaders, snow blower, shoveling, and other equipment to keep driveways, walkways, and parking areas clear from snow/ice hazards. Monitor and operate heating, A/C, ventilation, electrical and mechanical systems. Observe and report needed repair of equipment, furnishings, fixtures, building, and site. Makes repairs/upgrades of equipment if licensed to do so. Respond to immediate safety and/or operational concerns to take appropriate actions to resolve immediate safety issues and maintain a functioning educational environment. Consult with the Facilities Manager and building administrative personnel for planning, prioritizing, and scheduling maintenance activities and achieving building objectives. Moves furniture, and equipment and makes deliveries as required. Contribute to the overall success of assigned building and/or district location by performing all other related duties as assigned. The District Maintenance Mechanic employee must be able to: Maintain a stationary position to operate a computer, printer, telephone, and other desktop equipment. Move about schools and Central Office to maintain fields, troubleshoot and diagnose field maintenance equipment functionality, perform grounds work, and operate equipment to remove snow. Attend meetings and in-services as required Lift, push, and/or pull 50 pounds Promote good public relations through personal appearance, attitude, and conversation Report all cases of suspected child abuse to appropriate school personnel and proper government authority Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities May be representative, but not all-inclusive of those associated with the position. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to acquire knowledge quickly and effectively. Ability to exercise good judgment, establish priorities, and work independently. Ability to operate email and work with computer-based programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and Google-Suite programs.
