## Description 1. Job Purpose/Summary: The Fab – Welder A Tables I position is responsible for setting up and operating machines to fabricate structural tubing, angle, bar stock and materials into frames and conversions. Sets up and welds custom orders. 1. Essential Functions/Responsibilities: - Reviews and reads blueprints, work order and engineering specifications to determine set ups. - Knowledge and use of safe rigging techniques is essential for the safety of self and others. - Locates and transports materials, measures and marks bar stock and materials; makes cuts using hydraulic saws. Rechecks measurements to specifications. - Transfers cut materials to next operation on worktable. - Lays out materials; measures and marks tube locations for drilling and grinding operations. - Plans weld sequence by clamping and tacking materials together. Continually inspects ensuring that specifications are met. - Able to pass certification requirements after 30 days. - Performs horizontal and vertical welds on frame using appropriate penetration and fusion. - Performs finishing of frame and inspects for quality. - Maintains good housekeeping, 5S and safety practices in work area. - Reports labor and materials to ERP system as required. - Perform related duties as required. 1. Skills/Certifications: - Welding certification required for all required WPS’s in Fab. - Overhead crane 1. Minimum Education & Work Experience Required: - High school or GED diploma with some specialized courses or certificate. - 2-3 years’ work experience in heavy fabrication environment. 1. Necessary Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Read blueprints. - Reading Bill of Materials on Work Order to ensure proper parts are used. - Calculate measurements. - Capable of training others. 1. Supervisory Responsibility & Budget Accountability: - Accountable for the quality of frames produced, meeting productivity targets daily. - Little responsibility for the safe actions of others, but should have high situational awareness when moving parts through shop. - The job is performed in a manufacturing environment where dust and noise are prevalent.
