**Open to:** General Public **Work Week:** 35-hour Work Week **Salary:** (P21) $66,592.01 - $97,353.91 **Opening Date:** 07/15/2026 **Closing Date:** 08/5/2026 **Existing Vacancies:** 1 **Program/Location** Department of Environmental Protection Fish and Wildlife Information Services - Pequest 501 East State Street Trenton, NJ 08625 **Scope of Eligibility** Open to applicants who meet the requirements below. **Description** Under direct supervision in a state department, agency, data center, institution, or state college, assists in at least one of the following areas: the design and preparation of least complex operation routines and computer programs for electronic data processing equipment utilizing required and current software, operating systems, and multiprogramming technology; he control and/or implementation/maintenance of highly technical operating systems associated with new generations of computers to function toward optimum utilization of available hardware/software using comprehensive knowledge of the operating system function; the development, implementation, and maintenance of multi-network, multi-user Local Area Networks (LAN), Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN), and/or Wide Area Networks (WAN), maintenance of centralized, decentralized and remote network services, network security, data integrity, network performance monitoring, network problems resolution, and user support; does other related duties as required. **Specific to the Position** This position requires knowledge and skill to install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot any hardware and software components found on agency computers or information technology and the ability to provide informal training and assistance to agency employees or general public. This position requires training in DEP's Division of Information and Technology acquisition management policies and procedures. This position requires specialized training in virtual meeting platforms and web hosting services. This position will review, prepare, and submit for approval all IT acquisitions/purchases to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations and policies. At program's request, this position will initiate and monitor the progress of IT projects to maintain a running inventory of all projects and purchases. This position will participate on teams responsible for implementing IT systems changes, provide technical guidance on a wide range and variety of complex IT issues to senior management, and serve as primary liaison with agency employees and the public on matters related to web-hosting platform operations and support. **Preferred Skill Set** Ability to evaluate proposals for the acquisition of IT products or services to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations and established acquisition policies and procedures. Ability to understand project management principles, methods and technical requirements, to communicate complex issues affecting the program to senior management and participate in DEP IT CORE Team meetings. Ability to assist employees/public in installing applications and troubleshoot post-installation problems. **Requirements** EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree in Computer Science or Computer/Information Technology. EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience in at least one of the following areas: the design and preparation of programs for electronic data processing utilizing current operating systems, modification of systems software and multiprogramming technology; or the development, maintenance, or installation of application programs; or in performing technical support functions within a direct access device environment, or the development, implementation, and maintenance of multi-network, multi-user Local Area Networks (LAN), Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN), and/or Wide Area Networks (WAN) environment.
