# GENERAL STATEMENT Plans, publicizes and attends events as well as completes related paperwork such as contracts and RPP’s. Under the direction of the Beach Pride Events Manager, the Event Assistant is responsible for actively participating in booking and implementing a variety of student activities and events that abide by University, Associated Students, Student Auxiliary Enterprises guidelines. Abilio work with a diverse staff and student body. Able to assist volunteer consultants and provide other duties as assigned. # ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Will coordinate the planning of Union, ASI, and campus-wide events in conjunction with the Beach Pride Events Manager and Assistant Director, Programs. 1. Gathers information regarding the availability and cost of entertainers, speakers, bands, novelty acts, games and/or other activities for Beach Pride Events. 1. Uses various methods to communicate with members and the campus community to gather and disseminate Beach Pride Center information. 1. Helps create, post and distribute flyers, posters, banners, table tents and other informational materials. 1. Attends events and handles assigned responsibilities to help ensure success for all Beach Pride Events programs. 1. Participates in distributing, processing and/or keeping abreast of information from union, campus and national surveys related to student interests and needs. Applies knowledge to better meet the needs of LBSU diverse student body. 1. Attends individual, staff and Beach Pride Events weekly meetings. May be required or approved to attend additional committee or board meetings. 1. Maintains logs for work assignments & schedules, as well as tracking systems for contracts, RPP’s and event documents. 1. Assists with creating and maintaining various documents and reports as assigned including program proposals, budgets, evaluations, and end-of-year reports. 1. Assists with member recruiting and retention including but not limited to regular communication outside of meetings, requesting assistance with events and serving as role models. 1. Each staff member may be assigned specific areas of concentration or responsibility indefinitely or for a specific time period. 1. Interact positively and build effective working relationships with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and campus administrators, ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy. 1. Able to perform basic clerical duties, answering phones, typing, filing, customer service and other duties as assigned. 1. Ability to contribute to and maintain an office environment which celebrates diversity and promotes inclusive excellence. 1. Other duties as assigned, reasonably within the scope of the job. # MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS ## Education and Experience Minimum or no previous job experience required. Must be a current and active CSULB student enrolled in a minimum of 6 units. ## Knowledge and Abilities Successful candidates will have exceptional customer skills along with the ability the multi-task. Excellent interpersonal, written, time management and verbal communication skills. Fundamental knowledge in programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point. # OTHER QUALIFICATIONS ## Schedule This position is an annual, year-round position that works through the Winter & Summer academic breaks. Must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week with the flexibility to cover up to 20 hours per week as needed. Shifts are generally scheduled Monday–Friday between 8 AM and 7 PM during the academic year, with occasional evening and weekend hours required for event support.
