Operates assigned equipment for the Haltom City Public Works Department; assists with maintenance activities for area of assignment; and performs other related duties as assigned. Examples of Duties: - Operates various types of heavy equipment including but not limited to backhoes, dump trucks, water trucks, loaders, rollers, street sweepers, and forklifts. - Performs preventative maintenance to assigned equipment and assists in ensuring equipment is maintained in safe working condition. - Repairs and replaces City streets; removes concrete and lays asphalt; backfills curbs. - Installs traffic control devices and road/parking lot markings. - Sweeps streets; removes debris from roadways; cleans gutters; applies herbicides. - Identifies and documents street pot holes and/or trees obstructing roadways. - Maintains, repairs, installs pumps, valve boxes, and manholes. - Replaces meter boxes and lids. - Assists in cleaning and maintaining departmental facilities as assigned. - Performs other duties as assigned or required. Typical Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent, and one year equipment operation experience; OR an equivalent combination or education and experience. Depending on area of assignment, other specialized licenses or certifications may be required. Must possess a valid Class A Texas Driver's License.
