**Equipment Operator 2** **Full Time | Non-Permanent** **Location: McNeil Island Stewardship | McNeil Island, WA** **Salary Range: $6,132 - $7,114 Monthly** **This non-permanent position is represented by the Teamsters 117 bargaining unit.** Correctional Industries (CI) is dedicated to expanding incarcerated worker training programs that equip individuals with marketable job skills, foster strong work ethics, and support successful reentry while reducing the cost of corrections for Washington taxpayers. As a key member of the Island Operations team, you will help ensure the safe and efficient operation of Correctional Industries by inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on heavy equipment used to maintain roads and grounds. Your expertise will keep critical equipment operating at peak performance, directly supporting the safety, security, and success of daily operations. In this role, you’ll also provide hands-on instruction and training to staff and incarcerated workers, helping them develop the knowledge and skills to safely operate heavy equipment while gaining valuable workforce experience. As an **Equipment Operator 2**, some of your duties will include: - Leading and participating in training offenders on the operation of trucks, tractors, shovels, bulldozers, carry-all's, snowplows, graders and similar equipment, including operating heavy lifting equipment and powered cranes which could include: - Operating all heavy equipment safely per operations manual - Prioritizing and evaluating incarcerated work assignments - Maintaining training documentation for each incarcerated workers - Monitoring and implementing offender safety training on shop rules and equipment - Training Incarcerated on various equipment - Maintaining all roads on McNeil Island, blacktop and gravel - Ordering of materials used to complete McNeil Island heavy equipment projects - Preventive Maintenance - Inspecting, Diagnosing and Repair of Equipment - Other duties as assigned **What we need (required qualifications):** - High School Graduate, or equivalent - WA State Drivers License with a Class A CDL - One year full time experience as a journey level heavy equipment operator - Must successfully complete Correctional worker Core (CWC) training program for interaction with offenders. - Knowledge of rules of safe operation of equipment; state motor vehicle laws; materials used in servicing and maintaining heavy equipment; rules governing operation of state vehicles; methods, tools, and materials used in servicing and maintaining heavy equipment. - Ability to: operate heavy construction equipment in safe and skillful manner; adjustments and repairs to equipment; follow oral and written instructions; keep simple records; work to grade. **What will make your application stand out (preferred qualifications):** - Three years of experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment including operation of bulldozers, graders, excavato…
