Environmental Field Chemist I

**POSITION SUMMARY:** Chemists work in the field on customer locations conducting both chemical management/packaging/disposal services for hazardous and non-hazardous materials. **PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:** - Conducting routine inspection/audit services to assess customers’ compliance with hazmat storage, waste management, and occupational safety regulations. - Handling, classifying, segregating, labeling, and packaging hazardous and non-hazardous materials according to Federal and State regulations. - Training laboratory/production staff to understand proper chemical handling/storage techniques and relevant environmental laws. - Responding to emergency chemical spills and performing cleanup duties. - Preparing shipping documents and coordinating transportation of chemical products and hazardous waste materials to and from customer sites. - Performing consolidation of hazardous materials/waste (i.e., bulking, repackaging). - Providing expert knowledge on government regulations, health and safety practices, and proper disposal methods to customers. - Performing other job-related duties as assigned. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:** - Experience in hazardous waste classification, lab pack segregation, and waste handling preferred - Working Knowledge of applicable DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations preferred - Must be willing and able to obtain a commercial driver’s license within 90 days of employment - Must be willing and able to wear and safely use all levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) including air-purifying respirators - Pass a Pre-Employment Physical, Drug Screen and Alcohol testing - Pass a Pre-Employment Background Screening - Pass the Company's Auto Insurance Qualifiers - Pass the OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:** - Valid Driver’s License **Bonus Plan Details (if applicable):** **Rewarding Compensation and Benefits** Eligible employees can elect to participate in: • Comprehensive medical benefits coverage, dental plans and vision coverage. • Health care and dependent care spending accounts. • Short- and long-term disability. • Life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment insurance. • Employee and Family Assistance Program (EAP). • Employee discount programs. • 401(k) plan with a generous company match. • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). • Paid Time Off (PTO) • Benefits https://jobs.republicservices.com/us/en/about-us/benefits *The statements used herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by an employee in this position, and are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties and skills required by an incumbent so classified.
