Engineering Manager

Scopely is seeking a highly motivated Engineering Manager to join our Playgami team in Barcelona on a hybrid basis ! Playgami is Scopely's internal technology platform that powers some of the world's most successful live games. Our products help game teams operate and scale their games, serve millions of daily players, and process the vast amount of data generated across the Scopely ecosystem. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of engineers building the platforms, services, and tools that enable game teams to deliver exceptional player experiences. You will play a key role in shaping both the technical direction of our products and the growth of the engineers on your team. What You’ll Do Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Software Engineers, including hiring, coaching, and career development Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence Guide the design, architecture, and implementation of features and services that power world-class games at scale Own the technical quality and delivery of what the team creates, establishing good practices in software development, infrastructure, and distributed systems Ensure our systems are reliable, scalable, secure, and highly performant Work closely with leadership, product managers, designers, and other engineers to align on goals and execution strategies Share knowledge, provide feedback, and help colleagues both inside and outside of your team What We’re Looking For Proven experience managing software engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and career development Strong leadership skills with a track record of building high-performing engineering teams Excellent written and verbal English communication skills Extensive experience in software development and system design Strong proficiency in Java, C#, or another object-oriented language, including experience with asynchronous and concurrent programming paradigms Hands-on experience with cloud computing (AWS, GCP...) and low-latency, high-scale distributed systems A passion for solving complex problems and translating business needs into robust solutions An appreciation for both business context and technical excellence in solution development Willingness and interest in working across different technologies A collaborative, team-oriented attitude, taking pride in contributing to high-functioning teams Nice to have Experience operating large-scale distributed systems serving millions of users Knowledge of observability, monitoring, and incident management practices Familiarity with the gaming industry, live operations, or game development ecosystems Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as Kafka About Scopely Scopely is a leading video game and global interactive entertainment company, home to many of the world’s most beloved and enduring experiences, including two of the most successful mobile games of all-time “MONOPOLY GO!” and “Pokémon GO,” along with “Stumble Guys,” “Star Trek™ Fleet Command,” “MARVEL Strike Force,” “WWE Champions,” the Scrabble® franchise, “Yahtzee® With Buddies,” and many others.
