This position functions as a second-line professional manager of professional positions in a complex work area overseeing and assisting in the implementation and ongoing operations of the Newberry Transportation Service Center (TSC). This position exercises considerable independent judgment in the overall administration of the TSC, including, but not limited to, budget planning; administering the operations of the TSC; and effectively carrying out the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) goals, policies, and procedures in the areas of planning complex projects, design, project delivery, Traffic and Safety, maintenance of the physical features, utility relocation, construction permits, and various studies while maintaining alignment with the Region and MDOT's Strategic Plan. Maintain positive public relations with local road agencies, law enforcement agencies, government officials, transportation industry, and public and private utility companies. This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license and regular travel throughout the Newberry TSC area to carry out operations that support MDOT’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
