The Wastewater Engineering division is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Engineer 1 to support the planning, design, and delivery of wastewater collection system improvement projects. The Engineer 1 works under general supervision while exercising independent judgment on technical assignments, coordinating with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and the public to help ensure projects are completed effectively and in compliance with applicable standards. **What you will get to do:** - Coordinate and perform engineering design work and prepare plans, specifications, and related documents for wastewater collection system projects. - Review and approve improvement and construction plans and provide technical engineering support within the assigned program area. - Facilitate project design and implementation activities, including coordination with engineering technicians, construction inspectors, consultants, and contractors. - Conduct field inspections and site visits to support design development, construction oversight, and issue resolution. - Provide project management support, including contract administration, preparation of specifications and contract documents, cost estimating, pre-construction coordination, and interpretation of project requirements. - Perform engineering studies, analyze data, develop recommendations, and prepare technical reports. - Represent the organization in meetings and presentations with the public, agencies, developers, advisory groups, and other stakeholders. - Respond to inquiries and complaints related to engineering projects and recommend corrective actions as appropriate. **Qualities we are looking for:** - Exercises sound judgment and makes thoughtful decisions within established engineering practices and project parameters. - Communicates clearly and professionally in writing, presentations, meetings, and one-on-one interactions. - Builds and maintains effective working relationships with colleagues, contractors, consultants, agencies, developers, and community members. - Demonstrates strong organization and time management while balancing multiple assignments, deadlines, and changing priorities. - Approaches problem-solving analytically and develops practical, well-supported recommendations. - Shows initiative, accountability, and the ability to work independently under general supervision. - Responds to questions, concerns, and sensitive issues with tact, pro…
