Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).** **Faculty of Science** **Science Office of Undergraduate Student Advising (SOUSA)** **This is a leave replacement, two (2) year contract.** **Position Summary:** The Engagement Officer will join a team of administrative and advising professionals working in the Science Office of Undergraduate Student Advising (SOUSA). Together, we provide guidance and support to over 6000 undergraduate students; assisting them in making informed academic choices in light of their learning, career and life goals. Reporting to and working closely with the Associate Director, Student Affairs, **t**he Engagement Officer will actively engage with students and colleagues within the Faculty, across the University, and with outside institutions to foster dialogue, learning and exchange on best practices in academic advising and student affairs. The incumbent will plan and oversee advising events, manage SOUSA communications and help develop best practices in consultation and partnership with stakeholders inside and outside the unit. They will help SOUSA better serve students by participating in the development and enhancement of internal policies and processes. **Primary Responsibilities:** - Responsible for building connections and fostering exchange between members of the advising and student affairs community by proposing and implementing targeted communication and engagement plans. - Collaboratively work with the Associate Director and members of the SOUSA team to plan, develop, and implement process improvements to support advising and student affairs services. This includes process mapping and knowledgebase creation and management. - Oversee, plan and facilitate unit and Faculty participation in recruitment and orientation events, such as Open House, Pre-registration Orientation, Discover McGill, CEGEP visits, etc. Provide logistical and planning support for advising and special events within the unit. Participate in an annual review of these events with a view to improvement. - Collaborate with the SOUSA team to maintain, review and update the SOUSA website. Liaise with departments to provide recommendations and best practices for departmental student affairs websites. Ensures the website continuously meets accessibility requirements and best practices. - Contribute to developing an effective student communication strategy, including the creation of email campaigns and informational materials. - Develop contacts with student organizations and solicit student feedback on advising services with the goal of fostering a positive relationship, raising awareness of SOUSA services and identifying areas of improvement or intervention at both the program and degree advising levels. - Research and produce reports on specific dossiers, functions and projects and make recommendations on the development and implementation of unit initiatives and processes improvements. - Represent the unit at Faculty and University meetings related to student affairs issues. Ensure follow-up action and keep abreast of new developments and trends. - Assume supervisory responsibilities for assigned employees, including student employees, and may provide oversight and guidance to additional staff as required. **Your Qualifications:** - **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Education, Communications). - **Experience:** Demonstrated experience in student services, student affairs, communications, outreach, engagement, program coordination, or a related field.
