**GRADE:** 74 **SALARY:** $61,524 plus benefits package Sampson County Emergency Services is actively recruiting for our next Deputy Fire Marshal. This dedicated professional will work within the Emergency Services department, under the direction of the Fire Marshal, to provide advanced protective services work for our County. **In this vital role, you will:** - Ensure the safety of community residents by conducting routine fire inspections of existing facilities and new construction projects - Supervise and conduct training and instruction over all contract fire inspectors - Review inspection reports for compliance as part of the Division's Quality Assurance Program - Maintain the County's fire inspection database - Manage inquiries from the public, architects, contractors, fire departments, and other local partners - Assist in maintaining emergency services equipment - Provide incident management support during complex incidents and disasters **What we're looking for:** - Comprehensive knowledge of all applicable County and State laws, codes, and ordinances as they pertain to fire prevention and arson - Proven ability to apply knowledge of principles and equipment to promote fire safety and prevention - Ability to establish trust and maintain effective working relationships with associates, the general public, and local partners through strong interpersonal skills **What you'll bring:** - A Bachelor's degree with coursework in fire science, fire investigation, or business is preferred - Extensive experience in firefighting, fire code enforcement, fire investigations, emergency management and haz-mat - A valid Class B driver's license for the State of North Carolina - A North Carolina Fire Inspector Level I Standard Certificate or above - North Carolina Firefighter Certification - Hazmat Operations Certification from NCOSFM - Additional certifications may be required on a timeline as defined in during the hiring process Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
