## Overview The Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) provides direct patient care and clinical support in a critical access emergency room setting. This role focuses on assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), maintaining patient safety, supporting clinical procedures, and engaging patients during their care. ED Tech works closely with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and compassionate care daily. - Uses Acute Care Unit Guidelines of care guidelines to guide work within scope of practice - Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding - Monitor patients to ensure safety and report any changes in conditions to the nursing staff - Provide continuous observation for patients assigned to maintain a safe environment - Support mobility by assisting with ambulation, transfers, and positioning - Engage patients in appropriate activities to promote mental, emotional, and physical well-being - Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment - Follow all infection control and safety protocols - Assist clinical staff with non-invasive tasks as directed - Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members - Document patient interactions and observation accurately and in a timely manner - ED Tech is responsible for reporting unusual symptoms, observations, patient requests and/or their families requests - ED Tech shall identify safety needs and answer call lights promptly - Accurately and timely documents all tasks, observations, and procedures performed on the patients record according to medical and legal standards - Maintains through and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records - Uses Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation (SBAR) communication techniques - Collaborates with health care team regarding plan of care, follow-up and evaluation for the patient and family - Perform IV-related tasks within scope of certification and facility policy - Support nurses and physicians with clinical procedures and emergency interventions - Obtain and document vital signs and other patient data accurately and promptly - Engage patients in supportive interactions to reduce anxiety and promote comfort - Follow all emergency Department protocols - Uses Emergency Department and Dual Track Emergency Department Guidelines of care, hospital policies/procedures and regulatory guidelines to guide work within scope of practice - Facilitates room turnover between patients, stocking, and exchanging equipment, as needed - Consistently demonstrating flexibility as evidenced by floating to other areas and agreeable to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and night hours as necessary to meet the needs of the patients and department **Work Environment and Physical Requirements** - Emergency Department within a hospital setting - Steady-paced, high-acuity environment with frequent interruptions - Exposure to emergencies and potentially traumatic situations - May require working nights, weekends, and holidays - Ability to lift, move, or assist patients as needed - Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and lifting - Ability to respond rapidly in emergency situations ## Description **Emergency Room Technician- Full-time positions.** The position involves 12-hour shifts, 7 AM-7 PM, in the emergency room and ACU floor.
