We are seeking passionate, patient, and highly qualified ELA (English Language Arts) Tutors to join our elementary and high school campuses on a part-time basis. Depending on your placement, you will either be the foundational guide helping elementary scholars master phonics, reading fluency, and vocabulary, or the critical support system helping high school students navigate complex literature, critical analysis, and persuasive writing. Salary & Compensation Hourly Salary Range: $25 per hour. Benefits Note: This is a part-time position and does not include district-paid medical benefits or retirement contributions. Funding Note: This is a federally funded position (under Title program guidelines). Ongoing employment in this role is contingent upon the continued allocation and availability of these federal grant funds. Role Summary The Part-Time ELA Tutor provides targeted, small-group and individualized reading, writing, and language interventions to students who need extra academic support. Reporting directly to the Building Principal and working closely with classroom teachers, you will utilize district-approved literacy tools, track student progress data, and foster a positive, growth-oriented environment that builds students' confidence and communication skills. Why You'll Succeed (Qualifications) Certified Educator (Required): Must hold and maintain an active Missouri educator certification through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) corresponding to the placement level:For Elementary Placements: Active Missouri Elementary Education Certification is required. Educationally Prepared: Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Reading, or a closely related field (required for state certification). The Literacy Advocate: Strong conceptual understanding of literacy development, reading comprehension strategies, and the writing process. The Patient Educator: Outstanding human relations skills with a genuine sensitivity, patience, and enthusiasm for working with young learners or adolescents. Data & Goal Driven: Highly organized individual capable of keeping basic progress-tracking records and communicating growth markers with lead classroom teachers. Cultural Responsiveness: Ability to build rapid, positive rapport with students from diverse backgrounds, fostering a classroom culture where making mistakes is celebrated as a step in learning.
